* Just a reminder of a great website with all kinds of cute games, songs, and activities connected with the shows on Channel 2: This is one of the few indoor activities that is entertaining for all four of my children!
~Thanks to Kathleen J.

* Another great family-friendly website for kids to explore is where children have fun learning to read! The website, put together by a team of artists, teachers, and computer animators, is simple to navigate and really engages the child's attention. The focus is on simple, fun interactivity and the sounding out of almost every word. All your child has to do is click on the screen, watch and listen! Start with the ABC's then move on to the Learn to Read Book #1 and then read the books and play the games in sequential order. This site was first recommended by one of our first grade teachers, and the kids can't get enough!

Are the kids getting you down? Have you lost your sense of humor about it all? Turn to DotMoms, a weblog that features smart, fun, and focused writing about motherhood from many perspectives. The DotMoms are good writers with something to say about life on the home front. They aim to be a diverse group that reflects all kinds of moms (different ages, locations, races, religions, etc.) and all kinds of kids. Their tone is light-hearted and laser sharp, and they are tuned in on what it's like to belong to a family, as mothers, wives, daughters-in-law, daughters, sisters and more.

While you're on DotMoms, check out the writings of Meredith O'Brien, a Boston-area mother of six-year-old twins Abbey & Jonah and their younger brother Casey. She's been a journalist for 15 years and has written about parenting for the past five years, including a monthly column for the Boston-area publication Parents & Kids. An adjunct journalism professor at the University of Massachusetts, O'Brien serves as The Boston Herald's parenting blogger, writing The Boston Mommy Blog.
